Week 4

Hi,

All the assignments are done, I hope successfully, and it’s high time for the reflections.  I consider if I start every blog post with “this week was full of wonderful discoveries”, I will not be mistaken. I am learning so many useful things and I am eager to apply all of them in my teaching! So many wonderful websites which I believe will help me to suggest my students unforgettable lessons. While drawing up my technology enhanced lesson plan I thought how fantastic opportunities I would be able to give my students if I used technology more frequently. And I am happy that the list in my Delicious page is being enriched with lots of amazing websites.

I was excited to read my web mates’ posts concerning the classroom problems. Different countries, different problems… Although in almost every post I could see the similar problems that I have. For example, Lupita is bound to syllabus, Salah’s students speak their native language, Annusha’s problem with time management… . It will be more interesting to read about the solutions of the problems in the coming weeks.

In general, I can say that I am satisfied having done everything for this week. And now I am enjoying my time with exploring the websites and making use of what I find out from my web mates.

Best,

Samarat

  1. Hello Samarat,

I would like to praise you as well on your accomplished assignments. I am sure you feel delighted and relaxed at the moment and most probably thinking over Week 5 as well. :)

You know Samarat, I suppose we would all be able to say the same, i.e. every week brings us so much new, so much unknown or something we haven't tried yet. You are totally right, we are all experiencing the weeks of "discoveries"! Beautifully said! :)

I am sure your students will benefit greatly when they will get involved by you in this unforgettable world of learning English, the world coloured by authentic language, real people, real situations, technology tools and the feeling of love towards the language they study. :)

Have you noticed already if you have altered your way of teaching or changed at least your attitude towards teaching certain skills? Could you share with us what the reactions of students were when they were involved in different activites "coloured" with the help of technology?

I would like to wish you all the best in your studies and teaching career! Enjoy every moment offered to you by life and take the most out if it! :)

    Best wishes,

    Jurga.

  2. Hi Jurga,
First, I would like to apologize for my late answer. Time is flying so fast, so I wish I had 34hours a day to accomplish everything on time. This week I am late in everything. That’s a pity!
Secondly, thank you very much for all your warm wishes! Your wishes, your detailed and clear posts really motivate me to do every task better. At least I am doing my best !
I like your expression “English world colored by technology” very much, since using technology changes the attitude of students to learning.
As for your questions regarding changes in my teaching I can’t say that I have totally altered my teaching but some steps have begun. Now I bought a modem which allows me to have internet at home and in my classroom. It means I can prepare some materials at home and use them in the classroom!
Concerning my students they are always happy when we use internet or computer in doing assignments. Even the passive ones demonstrate interest in such activities.
Thank you, Jurga for your interest!
I suppose your students are lucky to have such a devoted teacher like you!
    Good luck!
    Best,
    Samarat
